Why clovers?

Why clovers?

I've always been able to find them. Sometimes it feels like they find me.  Over the years I have tucked them in my Bible.  I pick the page number to match my boys' birthdays or the date the clover was found.  I have so many memories of staring down at a patch of clovers looking for a little magic - I hope you do too.

Science will tell you there is one clover with four leaflets in each 15 square foot area and it takes about 17 minutes for it to reveal itself yet, some never find them.  They are a rare little mutation and beautiful blip in creation.  Finding one feels special.  I have learned that receiving one makes a person feel special too.

I decided to laminate the clovers in my Bible to ensure that they would be there for years to come. There were 39!  They were all spread out on my desk when a friend stopped in to talk before we went out for lunch.  She asked if she could have one and of course I let her choose any one she wanted.  When we met another friend for lunch she too wanted one and I told her I knew right where one was back at my office and I would grab it when I got back.  They of course thought I was crazy.  I didn't want to be seen as special or cool by finding a clover for her; I wanted HER to feel special!

Within a few seconds and within two feet of where I felt lead to look, I found it.  I found Kayla's clover!  I sent her this photo and asked that she see it as proof that God is listening.  "He loves you. He sees you. I love you." Her reaction was, "I feel so much peace right now." That's where the idea sparked. I wanted to spread a little joy through clovers and the dread of turning 40 was the perfect back drop to do it!

And because Kayla is one of my most favorite people ever, when she requests a five-leaf clover, you find her FIVE of them the same day.  I'm telling you: it's my holy spirit sprinkle!

Spreading joy, Nicole Astra
