Windfall and Lucky 7

October 2018

As October settled in, I spent as much time outside as possible. I knew the harsh weather was on its way and my clover days would be on hold until next season. We were at 71 clovers found and the weather was turning fast.  I feared this was coming to an end.

My boys and I met my in-laws at Honey Hill a beautiful local farm to pick out pumpkins and enjoy the day.  The lot for parking was full of clovers - overgrown, matted down clovers. After a few glances we found a couple.  These few were the largest I had ever seen and I knew they would press beautifully.  First, was for Penny and her brave battle with cancer.  Our sons are special to each other and I am grateful for her friendship.  My heart breaks watching her hurting but, man, is she strong!

We got on with our shenanigans and enjoying the farm's activities and animals.  I spotted clovers growing out of a crack in the sidewalk and in a dense section ended up being a seven-leaf clover. SEVEN!  An employee saw me pick it up and rushed over to ask if she could have it.  Seven was her lucky number and the day of her birth.  I handed it over but not before snapping a picture ;)
I took a few more minutes when it was time to leave and found many of the clovers pictured above. #77 was for Ellen DeGeneres. Yes, I'm serious and, yes, I mailed it to her tv studio.  Whether it ever reaches her or not is out of my control but I felt lead to pray for her so I sent her a note.  I am grateful for her positivity and love.  The world needs more of that. I hope that is what I am doing.

Peace, N
